Lee Thompson Double
A special match for the Lee Thompson Memorial Plate was held on the Memorial Field with Hethersett Under-16s beating Rockland Under-16s 5-2 in an enjoyable match. At the end there was a surprise for Under-16s coach/manager Michael Lemmon when he became the latest winner of the Lee Thompson Memorial Shield for his outstanding contribution to the club over the past 12 months. The plate and shield were given to the club in memory of former player Lee who was tragically killed in a road accident. The match also included a tombola and barbecue and raised £213.80 for the SOS Bus charity. Michael is pictured above receiving the trophy from Lee's brother Ben.

Sponsorship for Youngsters
Two of our youth teams have signed sponsorship deals with local companies. The clubís Under-8s have had tops supplied by Hethersett Butchers. Proprietor Martin Roberts said he was delighted to support the youngsters: ďA lot of the parents shop here and itís just a small way of saying thank you and helping in the community,Ē he said. The clubís Under-12s have just won their section of the Norfolk Youth Combination and are now being sponsored by Loddon based company Panel Graphics. Owner Steve Earl has provided the team with a set of training tops as part of his community involvement that has also seen him support Norton Athletic and Gorleston Youth. Golden Boot Tie
We have a tie for this season's golden boot for the club top scorer. Hannah Waters from the Ladies Team and Scott Grimes from the men's Saturday and Sunday sides both finished on 45 goals and will both receive golden boots to mark their achievement.
Stars of the Future?
Almost fifty budding soccer stars of the future turned up at Hethersett Junior School to take part in the first of two sessions organised jointly by Hethersett Athletic Football Club and Norfolk FA. The mini soccer training session catered for boys and girls from reception and years one to two and is part of Hethersett Athleticís policy of providing football for all ages from five up to adult. Club coaches Wayne Johnson and Jim Beckett were joined by Norfolk FA Development Apprentice Stacey Annison who also plays for the Hethersett Ladies. The second session is due to take place this Saturday and if successful could lead to regular training dates next season. Click on the picture to enlarge it.
