Wednesday 2nd May.

This will be a quick entry for me as I am rushing to get all my jobs done before getting off to the Cafe. However for all those interested, Pam came back safely on Monday morning to a bright if breezy late April day. She is glad to be back and looking forward to catching up on all the news and seeing all her friends. At the moment she is getting over the jet lag but should be in the Cafe tomorrow.

On a different note, I was shown a nomination form yesterday that comes from the EDP and concerns their annual FOOD AWARDS 2007 competition. There are all sorts of categories but of course the one of most interest to us is the Coffee Shop/Tea Room of the Year.    It would be brilliant if we could win this award and the only way we can do that is if our customers nominate us. The forms are to be found in the EDP but the nomination can also be made online at www.edp24.co.uk  So please, if you think we deserve it, give us your vote. We would really appreciate you taking the time to do this for us.

More later

Bye y’all

Thursday May 10th May.

Pam is now back into the Cafe and I am getting some time off to get the jobs done in the garden. If you have an hour to spare ask her how she got on with our granddaughters! Its Amy's turn to have some holiday so she is off from Saturday for two weeks in Gran Canaria. Its been quite a while since she had a proper holiday so we are hoping this one will be a great success.

This does, of course mean that both Pam and I will need to be at the Cafe to cover Amy's absence so the gardening will have to take a back seat again for a while. Well I finally managed to get some time yesterday to redo all the window boxes and some of the wall baskets. So hopefully in a few weeks we will have a colourful display once again in our yard. I have added one extra wall basket and when we get the hanging baskets back from our supplier there will be an extra one of them too. I just love to have a colourful display and I think its so much nicer for our outside customers.

I also have the camera back so when we had two of our regular younger customers in on Tuesday I took the chance to get their pictures so take a look at Finley, Roger and Ethan (both in our gallery section). Angela, our South African Saturday young lady, continues to improve but we don't expect her back anytime soon. We do, however, wish her a speedy recovery. She did visit us a while back and cleared a few tables just to keep her hand in!!

That's it for now .
Take care, visit us soon
Bye y'all

Saturday 19th May

What a lovely day Friday was. After all that rain the sun came out and it was so hot. It was lovely at the cafe as so many people chose to eat outside and the  flowers in the window boxes looked really good in the sunshine. The
Busy Lizzies have got off to a flying start and bring lots of colour to the  yard. There are also hanging fuchsias and geraniums to come on later so I am hoping for a brilliant show. Our hanging baskets are coming along in the
greenhouse but won't be ready till next month. I even put some pansies that  I'd taken out of the window boxes, and put them into the small flower bed  beside Looses, which is actually their little bit of ground, and they are
flowering nicely too.

Mobile phones are both a blessing and a curse but some of the  incidents they create are quite funny. We had two ladies yesterday who were meeting each other for lunch at the cafe. Each thought the other was late.  One stood at the top of our yard, round the corner out of sight of the road,  in the sunshine, the other down the bottom of the yard. They phoned one  another and Jennette heard the conversation from both ends that went  something like, "Where are you? We said 12.30 didn't we?" Answer:- " I'm at  Morello's. Where are you?"!!!!!!! Priceless.

Two customers came in today and asked if we could do them an instant  coffee. Now its a well kept secret but actually we can. WE don't like to  advertise it too much, being a Coffee shop where we sell all kinds of really
good 'fairtrade' ground coffee but we do use instant in some of the cake  recipes and in our 'Greek style' Frappes. So if you really must have  instant, we can do it, but don't tell anyone.!!!

As for cold drinks, you might like to try our Ginger and Lemongrass,  or Elderflower cordials for a change and we are trying out Ginger beer to  see how that goes. So we have something different to tempt you in the summer
 months.

Our homemade soup is coming to an end for this year. As you know it comes off the menu for the summer months so I think there will only be one more week left. It gives me a break from making it and a chance for you to
try something different from off the menu. I'm sorry if soup is your thing but it will be back in the autumn.

Thats all for now,
Bye Y'all

Wednesday 23rd May

As I have intimated before, we are definitely into he last week of soups, there is one 'Sweet Potato and fresh garden rosemary' and then the last will be 'Tomato with Pesto'.

I'm sorry for the soup lovers among you but please, try something else off the menu. We are sure you'll find tasty alternatives. The soup will be back in the Autumn.

Tuesday was a lovely day and all our tables outside came into their own. It was lovely to see so many of our customers taking the opportunity to eat in the fresh air. If you come in on 25th. May, be sure to say Happy Birthday to Jennette, she is 21 Again!! I'll know how many of you are reading this by the response.

Amy is having a lovely time in Gran Canaria where the weather has been smashing. She is now in her last week and will be back next Wednesday. This will be the last entry for a while as our webmaster is going on holiday, so have a great time Peter and  I look forward To resuming this blog on your return.

I couldn't sign off for my short break without sharing the photo below. We might make it look easy, but being cheerful and providing the best, 'customer service' in Norwich, is very tiring and by the end of the day Pam was starting to
wilt as this photo shows. She was waiting for me to finish mopping the cafe floor and just collapsed in the alleyway!!!

See you in the cafe
Bye ya'll
