Saturday 28th June
Where has this month gone? And where
is summer? We had that two days in May and all thought, 'Great,
summer has arrived!', but then it was gone and its been very
disappointing since. We have had customers asking for hot
soup and its a nonsense to tell them that we don't serve it in
the heat of the summer months! Ha,Ha.
Apart from the weather, all is
going smoothly at the Cafe, though the economy at large does
seem to be having an effect on shopping habits with not as many
shoppers coming into the city which means we are not as busy as
last year, but taking a casual poll of other businesses reveals
the same story pretty much everywhere. We remain grateful for
the loyalty of our regulars and despite the above continue to
attract new customers who have either stumbled on to us or come
because they have heard we are worth a visit. It's that 'word of
mouth' that is so important to us and means that we are getting
things right. Though we never get complacent and are always on
our guard not to relax standards. If you notice something, not
quite right, please tell us we see ourselves as a kind of
partnership and you may notice something that has slipped our
attention and we would be pleased to hear from you.
The flowers in the yard are
really coming on well and seem to appreciate the cooler weather,
making the yard very pretty and a pleasant place to sit and
rest, when it is warm enough!
Flossie our newest recruit is doing
her work experience for two weeks so you will see her regularly
for a while as she is working every day!! We are really pleased
with her progress and she is getting to know our customers and
is an asset to our family team.
Pam and I have taken two weeks off
to get some gardening done and have a few days out together. We
went to the Norfolk Show on Wednesday and spent almost 12 hours
there!! It was a lovely day and Pam saw her first 'Royal', when
Harry spent three hours there. Although I am working this
Saturday while Amy and Nina go off to see 'Bon Jovi', we resume
our holiday next week and hope to visit Colchester Zoo so will
tell you how that goes later.
Must go to work now, so hope this
finds you all well and look forward to seeing you in our Cafe.
Bye Y'all
