Friday 8th April 2011
Well what a month we've had.! There has been
good news and then bad..
So the Good news first.... Sam, our holiday and Saturday member of staff, as you may know, is a talented thespian and he went for an audition in London along with young actors from all over the country, and he was successful!!! This means that for 9 weeks from 11th April until 18th June he will not be at the Cafe because he is going down to London, first for rehearsals and then will be performing 7 shows a week until 18th June. The part is one of the young boys in Lord of the Flies, which is opening the production season at the Open Air Theatre, Regents Park London. If you are interested in Tickets go to www.allgigs.co.uk.. So all of us at the Cafe are very excited and pleased for Sam and would like to say "Break a leg". Have a great time. And this Saturday 9th. will be his last working day at the Cafe until he comes back., so if you come in be sure to give him your good wishes too.
Next the bad news..... Jennette will not be with
us for 6 weeks because last Sunday (Mothering Sunday)!! she broke her
arm. The story is that she was playing ball with Michael, her grandson, on
the park, when she turned suddenly and was surprised by a young boy on a
bicycle, right behind her. She fell over him and putting out her hand to
break her fall .............!!!!!!!
So it was off to the Walk In centre, then the Casualty until 10.30pm that night and later followed by a visit to the fracture clinic. So we all wish her a speedy recovery, hope the weather remains good so she can lay out in the sun and top off that Australia tan! We will look forward to her return as soon as her arm heals. In the meantime our remaining team will be doing some extra shifts to cover and I will be in a bit more often too!!
On more mundane topics, I have given our ivy,
that covers the wall in the yard, a trim, especially around the area, up by
Looses, where our resident blackbirds are, once again, building their nest.
Also the daffodils, planted in the small border gave a good show this spring
but it's time I thought of what else I might plant in there for the summer.
We have taken Salmon off the menu for a while.
This was because there was not much call for it and that meant that we were
wasting too much and one of the secrets of our premises is to keep waste to
a minimum. However, there are so many other choices that it will hardly be
missed.
As the weather warms up the outside tables are
getting more use and the Cafe is getting a little busier, I am glad to say
because its been a very quiet period since the middle of January. But thanks
to our regulars we have kept going and now look forward to good summer.
So that's it for now
God Bless
Steven
